Notepad++
Even if you're not a programmer, this program is also a good alternative to Notepad/Wordpad given the fact that it supports tabs (just like in Firefox, Chrome, or the latest IE).
As for programmers, it is a valuable tool since it supports syntax highlighting, which uses different colors to highlight your programming codes. Supported formats: C, C++, Java, C#, XML, HTML, PHP, Javascript, makefile, nfo, ASP, VB/VBS, SQL, CSS, Pascal, Perl, Python, Fortran, etc.

Other features of Notepad++ which is superior to Window's default Notepad are:
- When utilizing multiple tabs, the tabs will still be there even you close and open back Notepad++.
- Able to undo multiple times (Notepad only can undo just one time..)
- Line numbering on left hand side of screen.
- Runs extremely fast and never slows down your PC. (given the advance functionality that it has)
