The Simplest Zipping Software (And It's Not Winzip)

Windows may treat zip files like normal folder, but power users will find it lack of features and prefer Winzip or WinRAR instead. However, they are not free.

7-zip is a free alternative that uses very little system resources, at the same time pack with powerful features.

• Same as Winzip/WinRAR, just right click on any zip file to get a list of actions to be performed such as extract/extract to folder/compress.
• It uses the windows-explorer-like folder view approach similar to WinRAR. Winzip users should definitely try it out because I'd never like how Winzip present their zip contents.
• It supports extraction of popular zip formats such as RAR, ARJ, ISO etc. Although it only supports compression to ZIP, 7z (it's own 7-zip format), Gz and TAR format.

You should try out its own 7z compression format because it gives one of the best compression to date.
